As expected in previous reports, MediaTek has finally announced two new chipsets for the mid-range segment, the Helio P23 and Helio P30 which will be available in the fourth quarter of this year. But the initial inventory of both chipsets is limited in China, which is then supplied globally.
Both chipsets have an octa-core processor with the highest core speed of 2.3GHz, while for light duty cluster only limited to 1.65GHz. The good news is that the two new chipsets are now equipped with a Mali-G71 graphics card which is certainly stronger, rather than the Mali-T880 GPU that is carried by Helio P20 and P25.
Among the many improvements added to the latest chipsets, one interesting addition is the HEVC encoding capabilities for Helio P30, as well as support for 16MP + 16MP (25MP single) cameras. While Helio P23 still maintains 13MP + 13MP camera support (single 24MP).

Another important improvement is the addition of dual VoLTE support, which enables both SIM in smartphones to be able to connect via LTE and offer high quality sound. Unfortunately these two chipsets are still built with the TSMC 16nm manufacturing process, so there is no improvement in the chipset manufacturing process.
